You know how Facebook shows you a memory you shared on this day, a certain number of years ago? Well, the one they showed me this morning made me snort. It was of my firstborn’s Christmas Eve performance when she was two. It took me a minute to figure out where she was – all the kids were standing nicely, with hands holding wrapped gifts, mouths open with sweet song, and then looking down the row, there was my little Scarlett at the end, sitting, back turned to the teacher, and staring in the opposite direction. I found the album, and saw her progression during the song that night via more photos captured: she was sitting facing the kids, then way stage left checking out the poinsettias, then back in the middle doing some hand motions, then sitting, presumably bored, with back turned to the teacher (the gem presented to me this morning), then way stage right checking out the other poinsettias, then swishing her skirt, dancing around, and then looked at-ease-triumphant walking out with her class. Hand to forehead. We got a lot of, “Oh, your HER parents” a lot, for the next few months. The pastor even mentioned her in his sermon the following Sunday, and referred to her as an “adventurous sprit.” HA!
All that to say, it’s Christmas Eve!! And we have all four of our littles going up on stage this evening, so it might be interesting…. This is what I’m wearing, tonight (we shot this after church, because it would be too dark to do real time, today!). I might bring my sunnies in with me, in case I feel the need to put them on and say, “Children? What children?” 😉

Merry Christmas! Mindful, thankful, humbled by The Reason why we are celebrating. Funny children-antics aside, I’m most looking forward to worshiping my Lord, my Savior, my King, tonight, along with the overwhelming, uncomprehending awe and emotion that comes when my heart and mind are fully focused on Him, and what He has done for us. What an incredible, undeserved Gift….
